The objective of this project was to redesign the Perth Pavilion at the Westminster Ponds Centre. Reforest London’s redesign is centered around creating an immersive and educational space that highlights sustainability and environmental awareness. The design’s centerpiece will feature a living tree, symbolizing the historic six-hundred-year-old meeting tree still standing on the property, serving as a powerful representation of nature's enduring presence. Biophilic elements, interactive digital educational screens, and custom seating arrangements will be integrated throughout the space, fostering a connection between visitors and the natural world. The community center will also include dedicated areas focused on promoting sustainability — educating the public on its significance and showcasing the sustainable features woven throughout the design. A key focus of our design will be educating visitors about the local ecosystem, from the various tree species to the native plants and wildlife. A thoughtfully designed wayfinding walkway, inspired by the trails found on the Westminster Ponds property, will guide guests through these interactive learning experiences, enhancing their journey. Our design will prioritize sustainability, incorporating cradle-to-cradle certified materials and finishes that are not only environmentally beneficial but also enhance the well-being of all who interact with the space. The overall goal is to create a harmonious, educational environment that deepens the community's understanding of sustainability and fosters a lasting connection to the natural world.
